Google is finally looking to strike against Microsoft, Apple and other major players in the corporate environments.
The new Android for Work program by Google brings together an ecosystem providing tools and services to better integrate devices running its mobile operating system.
We all know that many nowadays carry smartphones which seem to have become more powerful and common than the computers.
However, to tap into the business and innovation potential of the majority of workers for whom smartphones and tablets are underutilized in the workplace, Google has announced the Android for Work program.
The Internet and Android giant Google is boasting that the company is helping businesses bring more devices to work by securing, managing and innovating on the Android platform.
The Android for Work initiative by Google includes new software tools to make Android play nice with corporate environments. It is also being said that users can have a personal profile so that their private data can stay theirs, while the IT department is able to keep corporate data secure.
However, Google has confirmed that devices that won't be receiving the Lollipop update can use a new Android for Work app to securely deliver work email to apps on the smartphone or tablet.
Like the profiles in Lollipop, the Android for Work app can be fully managed by an IT department to control access to work data.
In addition, there’s a new Google Play for Work service that allows businesses to deliver approved apps across all of their devices and keep them up to date.
It is also worth noting that Google has partnered with a number of other companies to support the new program, including SAP, Salesforce, Adobe, F5 and HTC.
