A year ago, Google raised the curtain on Android L (Lollipop) during its I/O developer conference and shortly after HTC said its high end smartphones would be getting the software when it launched (six months later). A similar story played out this year because minutes after Google announced Android M at I/O 2015, HTC was back to say that two of its flagships will be getting the update when it lands (third quarter of this year).

Jeff Gordon, the company’s Senior Global Communications Manager revealed that both the HTC One M9 and One M9+ flagships will be getting the bump to Android M. There were no three month promises like other years, but we suspect the company will stick to that timeframe and have Android M on those handsets within 90 days of its launch. As for other smartphones, Gordon said "more devices" will be "announced soon".
