Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus, has revealed that the company is planning to release a second smartphone this year, hopefully just in time for Christmas.
Pei's comments were made in an interview with USA Today, and come only a few days after the OnePlus 2 was officially announced.
According to Pei, "there's going to be a second phone this year, before the end of the year. Hopefully for Christmas".
OnePlus has apparently not decided if it will be more powerful than the OnePlus 2 just yet, but from the early version that Pei has seen, he seems impressed.
"When I saw the prototype for that phone I was like 'holy s*** that's going to be my daily driver.'"
High hopes
With a new device coming so soon after the OnePlus 2, it looks like OnePlus is getting ambitious about becoming a major player in the smartphone market.
When asked about where he sees OnePlus in the future, Pei replied that "in 5 years I think it will be Apple, OnePlus and Samsung because there's no more room in the market".
It's a big goal, but if the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus' next handset are hits, the company might have a chance. Sadly that's all we know about the upcoming handset so far, with Pei promising that "it's going to be amazing, but today I'm not going to talk about it."
