Chinese company Huawei has raised the curtain on the Mate S high handset during its live event at the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany. The smartphone will take its place between the flagship P8/P8 Max and the mid-range Honor 7, and on paper the Mate S is a very appealing device with a good design and quality specs.

Indeed, the Mate S matches some current flagships in terms of specs with its 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD screen that sports Force Touch display tech. Huawei is using its own chipset again, this time a Kirin 935 processor that is coupled with 3GB of RAM. There is also an 8 megapixel front facing lens, a 13 megapixel primary lens, 32GB and 64GB storage options, a slick metal design, and a fingerprint scanner.

The Mate S will be arriving in September 15 says Huawei and will launch in 30 countries across Europe, Africa, and of course Asia. In Europe the 32GB storage option will cost 649 euros and the 64GB variant 699 euros.
