Xiaomi’s Redmi 2A is a huge selling smartphone. It struck a sweet spot between solid entry level specs and an affordable $78 price tag. However, despite the device selling 10 million units, the Chinese company has decided to give a revamp.
This is not a new sequel, rather a boost to the existing Redmi 2A. Earlier in the year, Xiaomi co-founder Lei Jun said that optimum smartphones should have at least 16GB of native storage and 2GB of RAM. The mega-budget smartphone Redmi 2A only features 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM, so it decided to update the device to fit into the “optimum” configuration.
That means the new re-tooled Xiaomi Redmi 2A comes with 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, while the rest of the specs look the same. That means a 4.7-inch 720p screen, a 1.5GHz Leadcore LC1860 SoC, 8 megapixel primary camera, 2 megapixel front facing lens, and a 2200mAh battery.
Also remaining the same is the price, so consumers get a better performing handset for no extra cost.
