After a lot of recent reports and conjecture, Sony has revealed that Android 5 Lollipop is finally one its way to the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. The Japanese giant is pretty late to the Lollipop party, and is in fact one of the last companies to get on board in terms of flagships. In recent weeks Sony has been saying the update is coming soon, and today here it is.

The update is rolling out to the Xperia Z3 range right now, at least according to XperiaBlog. The outlet says that the upgrade is landing in select regions at the moment and that European users will get Lollipop in the coming days. As for users in the United States, they may have to wait a little longer considering how Sony usually treats the US market.

The Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact are receiving the build number 23.1.A.0.690 is firmware carrying Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, kernel version 3.4.0. Of course, Sony's own UI is making its way with the patch, but the company typically has a soft touch on the Android experience.
