HTC's One M9 flagship was released at MWC with the Samsung Galaxy S6, but was expected to land before Sammy’s device. That may still happen, but it seems the M9 will miss its initial launch day, which was meant to be today, because of a software issue.

The 32GB version of the One M9 was due to land in HTC’s Taiwan homeland today, but the launch has now been pushed back because of an unspecified software issue. Interestingly, benchmarks are showing the device is very hot (the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 perhaps?) but it is not thought that issue is delaying the launch.

The delay was announced by HTC in an email to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, with the company saying that it will be rolling the handset out “as soon as possible”. The company says the new launch day is now going to be March 20, four days after the initially planned date. It is unlikely that this software issue will be a problem for future launches in other regions as HTC has time to resolve it.

The HTC One M9 is due to launch in the United States on March 25th and is available for pre-order in several European nations.
